Internship
As a full service Firm, Thompson Dunavant offers an excellent environment for Accounting students to begin to develop their skills and plan their careers while still earning their degree. The objective of our Internship Program is to introduce the intern to the profession of public accounting through hands on experience on a variety of client engagements both in the audit and tax disciplines. Interns are provided a unique opportunity to interact and learn from experienced professionals at all levels within our Firm.
The Firm offers multiple internship opportunities including paid for-credit academic internships in conjunction with local universities, as well as part-time unpaid for-credit internships in conjunction with local universities. The full-time internships typically cover all, or a portion of, the student’s academic semester (Spring or Summer), depending on the student’s class schedule and availability.
To be eligible for the Firm’s internship program, the student must have at least a 3.4 GPA and have achieved a “Junior” academic standing and be pursuing a degree in accounting. We begin interviewing candidates for our internship program in the Fall prior to the year of the internship.
Upon the commencement of the internship, you are provided an orientation to Thompson Dunavant where we introduce you to both administrative and professional matters. Prior to being working on an engagement, the intern is assigned to an advisor who closely supervises and mentors them throughout the program. As a testament to our commitment to technology and training, the intern is immediately and extensively trained to use the Firm’s latest software and other resources.
If you are interested in an internship opportunity, please send your resume to mhouse@tdplc.com.
